Spoiled Little Girls

Spoiled Little Girls

Well I decided to re-work an old painting for this Little Creatures RSPCA Fundraiser exhibition and shall  be donating it along with the “Nervous Little Dogs” one.  I had a few paintings in mind to submit, but decided this one would suit the dog one better.  The colours of each seem to compliment one another.

It was quite fun re-working the original painting, which in retrospect I should of done back then.  Here it is finished off…..

And here’s how it looked before….Spoiled little girls

I’m going to be dropping them in tomorrow.. and it looks as if the local paper might be doing a little story on me – with a photo!

Cripes.. exciting!

Nervous Little Dogs

Nervous Little Dogs

I finally finished the portrait of a friends pet, “Kiera”- a very excitable, sweet little nervous dog.. she’s so cute.. you can’t help but wanna let her jump up on your lap for a pet.

I tell ya though, that little doggie jacket gave me some woe’s, sheesh ..I may tidy it up some more later.

This photo isn’t the best, so will take another tomorrow during the day.. was just so pleased with it, had to post up. The little doggie jacket gave me some woe’s ..I may tidy it up some more later.

I’ll be putting this in the RSPCA Little Creatures exhibit this coming month, opens 8th June and runs for 6 weeks. Proceeds of all sales will go to the RSPCA.

Under Pressure

Under Pressure

I’ve discovered recently that the pressure to perform and produce something really does spur me on creatively.  Which lends me even more to the idea that I need to be either, looking out for more exhibits to place work in, or enrol in some more classes.

I have in the past only waited for inspiration to hit me… and if I’m painting or drawing something that starts to escape me, I’ve given up on it.  Sometimes sure that seems to work, you come back after a break and feel revitalised.  But I’ve noticed that once I’m under pressure. with deadlines,  I push past  the points where I feel it’s all coming apart to see it all come together again.

I’ve made excuses in the past also for painting at night, feeling like I can’t get a grasp of the colours that well… but it seems the more you do this, the better you get at achieving better results and of course become clearly more adept at the process as well.

I would really love to do an Arts degree or Tafe course or something here in Perth, but I haven’t a clue where to start looking.   I mean I do, but it’s freak’n confusing!

At any rate, I’m going to be joining a local art group, that meets to paint twice a month… so that should be interesting… and I’ll see how that helps me also.

Meanwhile the painting of the little dog Kiera is turning out wonderfully, and I shall post some photo’s very soon!

Opening Night

Opening Night

Great night – here I am with the two that made it to the fancy round gallery room. I was pretty chuffed about that, as you can seeeee. 🙂
Opening Night

With the third painting, this was in the smaller of the two gallery areas. I had some great feedback to this painting also.

The exhibition closes today… next year I hope to get my act together alot quicker.. instead of leaving everything till the last minute! (famous last words huh, lol)

NB: Big Blue and Australia Day Vibes both sold on the last day of the exhibition 🙂

Sketchy sketchy for coming exhibition

Sketchy sketchy for coming exhibition

I’m going to enter some pieces in the Little Creatures  RSPCA Exhibition.  All sales go to the RSPCA of course.  It will run for 6 weeks at the Little Creatures brewery, where I often love wandering around to check out what’s on show.

I’m not terribly sure if they want specifically “animal paintings/drawings”… but as I’ve been wanting to do some for a while,  figured may as well give it a go!  So I’ve asked a bunch of friends to send some me their fav photo’s of their pets and see what I can do.

Thinking of using these two for ideas…  I’ve started sketching the one of Harrison and Dougie… long way to go, but good practice me thinks.  Decided to colour it up with Photoshop for some variety.

Will keep you posted of how I fair.

Creepy Best Friends

Creepy Best Friends

I had a couple of false starts with the Best Friends painting. To get loosened up, I did this version. It seemed to help me get into the zone a bit better. Soon as I think I’m working on THE piece, I start to over think things.. it’s really annoying! Anyhow this turned out kinda fun I thought…even if they do look a little evil!! LOL

Show Off 6 Exhibition

Show Off 6 Exhibition

Last night was the opening of the Show Off 6 Exhibition. There was about 300+ guests in attendance and I was very pleased with my three submissions.  The best part was that two of them actually made it into the large oval room which feature the favourites for the exhibition!

Inspiration was gathered from all over for these three pieces…. big blue, was done whilst on our Kalbarri Shark Bay trip.

Best friends from my daughter and her best mates Maddie and Issy, who all joined our local Surf Lifesaving club this year… and have had loads of fun doing it.

My Aussie Day Vibes was partly taken from a photograph, which was taken by a very good friend of mine. She asked the girl in the photo if it was okay for me to paint her, to which she replied “F#*K  YEAH!” lol.. she’s a character to say the least.

Thanks to friends and family who also attended and are always very supportive of my Show Off Exhibition involvements. Although the free grog and food might have something to do with it too! hehe

I have some more photo’s coming of the actual night with the crew gathered around posing like wallyburgers.. actually i think that was just me. teehee
