Jezebel – The Drones

Jezebel – The Drones

Another drawing using the tablet. The image is derived from my fav song by the Drones, Jezebel… i captured the sequence of a small toddler/child walking, it was haunting and lonely as they walked across a huge expanse alone.

The whole song has an amazing vid clip with it..not for the faint hearted though. It goes with the lyrics which are very heavy but quite awesome in it’s message.

2nd attempt with the new Tablet. Really enjoying getting to know everything… it feels rather odd at first, but as you keep working, it all begins to flow and feel natural.

I grabbed a super old “SPIN” magazine, with Billy Idol on the front to use as my inspiration… I can’t seem to find the date on it, but the back cover is the typical Marlboro Ciggie advert with the cowboy.. old!! lol

I think I’ve finished my portrait of front man Josh Homme, from Queens of the Stoneage. I really enjoy painting/drawing this guy. He’s a sexy beast in my opinion, so figure why not enjoy painting and practising my skills on him! Ahh yes very enjoyable 🙂

His voice the lyrics the whole package is just awesome.   Unable to embed my fav song by them.. which is a bummer, but here’s the link just the same.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=135LCGFuEQM enjoyyy 🙂

Illustration Friday – Crave

Illustration Friday – Crave

The word “Crave” seems to evoke so many ideas… at first when I chose this woman to draw for this weeks theme, I was thinking of her craving a cigarette, a man, but then after I did her, I craved to add the colour to her….. Anyhow.. here she is before and after my own little craving to add the colour.

Drawn in pencil, then scanned and digitally coloured in Photoshop

Kiera Knightly + Annie Leibovitz + Wizard of Oz = Awesome

The amazingly talented photographer, Annie Leibovitz produced a 20 page photo shoot (which you can find in Vogue’s December issue) starring Kiera Knightly, using the magical theme and ideas of the awesome 1939 classic movie “Wizard of Oz”. The results are to say the least quite breath-taking…. Take a look for more images here

I completed the portrait of the lovely Miss Mandy Murphy tonight. It was quite a fun little exercise! I’ve forwarded the link to her, so I do hope she likes.

On another positive note, I may of sold one of my exhibition pieces to the City of Cockburn who held the Show Off 5 event. They are apparently debating with all concerned in choosing which piece, but it looks to be the Cactus one! This means it will hang in their upstairs art gallery, along with a few others. How stoked am i !!?? 🙂

Show Off Five – Open!

Show Off Five – Open!

Well I got there in time, I couldnt believe it!  I had a gruelling SharePoint course on all week and there was no way I’d make it to the Exhibit opening by 6pm.  Although as I found out, it opened at 7pm and they had all the free drinks and food from 6.  I managed to arrive around 6:20 and all my mates beat me there of course.  Great night, stayed for a few hours and even met some lovely fellow artists.  Particularly, Ms Debbie Walker Tremlett… her paintings are so wonderful, photo realisim at it’s best.  She captures her subjects spirit and so much more.

Here is what she had at the exhibit.

There were also some other pieces that were just plain weird.  But I suppose there must be a broad range for all, as that old saying comes to mind “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.

Anyhow it is open all week, so I may pop up during the week to visit my lil paintings and see how they’re doing.  hehe  I must say I was given quite a nice position, so I was pleased with this also.

Show Off 5 Exhibition

Show Off 5 Exhibition

Well, it opens this Friday.. and I’m really looking forward to it.  This will be my 3rd “Show Off” exhibit that I’ve been invited to.  There’s been some beautiful works hung at these events… with some really well reputed artists on show.  It’s going to be a mad rush to get to the opening in time, what with this SharePoint course I have on all this week.    I’ve been so spoiled with working close to home… I really hate catching the train with a million other people at 7:30am… and then home again at 5:30pm.   I’m trying to think of it as an adventure and a break up of my normal work habits….!  Still, I think I just like my 5 minute drive through no traffic, where I can start my day without all that added icky stress.

Anyhow here’s the images of the pieces I’m showing in the Exhibit.

Green Highway….
came out a ripper… if it doesnt sell, i’m looking forward to
putting on my wall above our piano… the walls are green too! 🙂
