The Tattooed Lady

The Tattooed Lady

Having some more fun with Photoshop.  I’ve always liked dabbling, but after seeing what that guy ReplaceFace has done, I thought I’d step it up a little.  I can see a complete series occuring and it all becoming quite addictive!!

Here’s the first one – myself as the Tattooed Lady – in a full swing “Carnie Folk” feel.  I couldnt quite get the angle of my face quite right, but hey… gotta start some where!

If you have any idea’s or images to add to – let me know and I’ll give it a go!

Celebrities as neoclassics

Celebrities as neoclassics

Let’s face it, everyone has a favourite celeb, who to them is just their hero of all time.  Well a VERY clever artist has gone ahead and created a neoclassic styled image of  some the true greats, turning them into a heroic styled images.  (I’m sure they love it also!)

Steve Payne is the name behind these images, going by the artist name of “ReplaceFace” –  and by using the images of Russian Generals (originally painted by George Dawe during the period of Napoleons invasion) he has very cleverly  replaced these General’s faces/heads with some choice celebrity faces… the results are quite beautiful.

Check his work out at: http://replaceface.tumblr.com/ – where you can also buy them as a print or even an iphone cover at Society6.

Anyhow, here are just a few of my own personal  favourites that I’ve grabbed from his site, so please check his site for loads more.

I’ve also added a few of my own Photoshop alterations for fun.  These are just a smattering of what I’ve done myself over the years, (no where as good as his, der!) mainly for  friends who have well and truly deserved having their ‘mugs’ placed on some very obvious celeb bodies for fun.   Always gets a big laugh, and hey it’s a great way to polish up your Photoshop skillz! 😉

Ride a Random Rainbow Pony

Ride a Random Rainbow Pony

I’ve downloaded and actually paid for the pro version of this app.  It’s an a very cool drawing product for tablets, and I’m basically using it all the time now when sketching on my Samsung tablet 10.0.  Sketchbook Pro for Android

So many more features than the free version…. well worth the investment!

And the following song seems to go with it in my mind. =)

This post is dedicated (and inspired by) a very cute little fan, who I have decided to surprise with a little sketch/doodle.  Fans, whatever the age, are awesome….so to you Miss Jess, THANK YOU!! And I do hope you like the little drawing I’ve done of you, although….I know you don’t wear “oneseys” anymore!…. lol.   Enjoy!! xo 🙂

Coco’s Islands 2013

Coco’s Islands 2013

We recently went on a wonderful holiday to the Coco’s Islands.  I didn’t do an enormous amount of drawing, as I was too busy snorkling, riding a bike around the island…(and drinking Malibu and lemonades lol) This first doodle I created was on the plane trip over.

“Betsy Bigelow (came from the wrong side of the tracks) but could always be relied on to keep your secrets safe.” – This image may of been inspired by my reading “The Great Gatsby”- loving it so far!

What I did do whilst on the island was inspired from the ocean views across the road where we stayed, which was to die for.
“Ocean Madness”  I’m hoping to do a few more acrylic versions of something below that I can hang at home.

The next one I did, was as a thank you note, to the owners.  They graciously let us stay in their awesome home for the week for free.  We’re taking them out to a sumptious dinner tonight, but this will be greeting them as a little surprise when they go back in a week to their house.  Just the basic pencil sketch.  I was pretty chuffed that it came out looking a lot like them. 🙂

A small thank you note

This next image was created at around midnight on the flight home. We had spent an already very long time flying and as sleep was now not an option due to overtiredness –  so bashed this out to alleviate the boredom.

I was pretty pleased with how it came out, especially as I had no plan at all at what I was drawing! One of the stewardesses walking past commented on it, saying how much she loved it, blah blah….(I know she was probably just doing her job as the perfect hostie! hehe)

Here are a couple of images in and around Coco’s Islands.. which if you weren’t aware, are a very small group of islands, just near Indonesia, and next door to the Christmas Islands… both Australian territories.  We stayed at West Island, the main area where the aussies visit and live.  It is a truely wonderful place to go to get away from it all.  Our last visit to this island was about 23 years ago, and not very much had really altered.

Here’s some pictures of Direction Island… the most amazing place to go snorkling.

The Early Years

The Early Years

I had to go through a bunch of old photos recently, as a close family member passed away.  I hadn’t looked at a lot of these old photos for so long, it was sad and yet happy to remember some really nice times with this person.

In doing so, I was transported back to an era of daggy fashions, innocent fun and simplistic good times.  You can see from these few shots, how my artwork today trys to incorporate a lot of the fun I had as a teen.  I think its the main component of my artwork and humour, and perhaps it’s my way of keeping my youthful ideals present in my life some place.  I hate getting old!

Tits n Tats

Tits n Tats

I’ve discovered a great new app to integrate into my doodling frenzies when using my Samsung Tablet.  I usually use the S-Note feature to draw with, which is simple and easy to doodle with.  It’s the addition of some fun filters via the Pixlr app that I was able to add torn edges and some crazy water stains.  Very easy to manipulate too.

Anyhow here are the results – one with the filters, and one without.

Surfboard design – 1990s

Surfboard design – 1990s

Was going through some super old photos tonight and came across this old photo.  I’d painted the design on this board in the 1990’s  for “The Plankshop” surfboard label, but the board itself was sold to someone in the States.

I have just found out that this board is actually hanging up in a California office, looking as good as the day it was made!  (apparently never riden!)  I’m glad at least it has been valued and kept for all to view… even if it never did get out into the water. 🙂 AWESOME!

illustration friday – Future

illustration friday – Future

I haven’t posted in Illustration Friday in years!  It was a great delight to see this week’s theme to be so close to my heart! “Future”.

So I’ve chosen a character from the movie “The Fifth Element” – one of a fav Sci Fi style movies of mine and the whole family.

Leeloo played by Milla Jovovich is just one of the awesome actors in this fantastic story…. it seemed as good as any to draw, although Rachel from “Blade Runner” nearly took her place. (Sean Young)

I also mucked around a little bit in photoshop with colouring…. I hope you enjoy!  HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!  (clip from movie below!)
