Cottesloe Paint Off – Hyrdrocryl event

What a great event !  Myself and some fellow perth Artists all got together down at Cottesloe Beach to create ocean inspired abstracts and seascapes.  It was all thanks to a wonderful incentive and sponsorship program run by Hydrocryl acrylic paints, a Melbourne based company.

Myself, Jess Swan, Kate Martin, and Peta Ciraolo all met down at Cottesloe Beach (in front of the Indiana Tearooms) on Thursday 18th January 2018, where we set up our easles and painted for 2 hours.  We had an abundance of onlookers walk by, stop and chat, fellow art lovers and other artists who came to say a gday and watch us in full painty mode!

We also set up our phones to stream via Instagram live the whole event.  We had over 5,000 viewers from all over the world.  It was so exhilarating to do and I’m hoping we go on to do more here.

Peta and myself will be painting live again at the coming Coogee Live – on the Sunday 25 March at the Port Coogee marina.  Jess and Kate will also be painting at Coogee Live but on the 24 March.   We can’t wait!

Here’s a couple of photos from the Cottesloe paint off event.

It is an exciting month ahead, with some new paintings going up at the Gypsy Tapas House restaurant in Fremantle!   Come on down from the 21st November to view, stop by and have a meal and enjoy the ambience.  It’s a fantastic spot for a good night out with friends, live music and fab tapas food!

I’ll have an abundance of paintings hanging there until 19th December about.

If you go in, let me know what you think by leaving a comment!

Meanwhile here’s a few images of what you’ll see!

Trudy the space explorer

She’s going where no woman has been before!

Don’t you wish you could just jump in your space ship and travel to an interesting  planet.

Imagine that,  Instagrams of the latest delicacies of Neptune,  Mars, and Uranus!? 😁 .   Maybe one of these days in the future huh! (like about a zillion !)

Meanwhile we watch on as Trudy checks out a new planet in the Delta quadrant.  (yep I’m a star trek nerd!)

Art class – realism

Art class – realism

So decided it was time to head back to the Fremantle Arts Centre, and do an interesting art course.   So with the company of a good friend, we go once a week for the next month or so, to attempt to be taught how to paint realistic styled paintings in OILS!  YES oils!!  I’m going to be giving it a go, and the first week, I wasn’t quite prepared for this medium so completed my first painting in acrylics… which as you can see didn’t turn out too badly.

My keys.

Here is the following weeks work.. where we need to paint a small item in a gridded up area.. our first victim, a simple chicken egg!

This time I went with Oils, and had tonnes of fun re-familiarising myself with the medium!

Katy’s peaceful garden

Katy’s peaceful garden

This is the latest commission completed for a wonderfully vibrant lady, who has had a rough beginning to 2014.

She wanted something bold, colourful with hearts to lift her up and out of the blues.  Her favourite colour is red, and the lotus image that features quite heavily is a beautiful tattoo she has on her wrist.

She tells me she loves it, and I’m looking forward to seeing a photo of it hanging in her home soon!!

It’s been a very busy couple of weeks.  I have loads on at Uni, creating Logo’s and websites, and work is insanity +1…  I also  have some pending commissions I have also been trying to fit in!

With so many stresses around me, I do like to try my hand at some quick little sketches or paintings.  It seems to give my brain a little push in the right direction somehow.

Here are two paintings, very quick ones that I completed over the last couple of days, one of some good friends  puppy dog who passed away recently.  We were very close to this lil guy, which does sound weird now that I’ve typed it, but “Dougie” was like a surrogate pet to us all so to speak… and we will miss the little guy immensely.

“ArtEx Exhibition 2012

“ArtEx Exhibition 2012

I’m quite excited to be involved in this year’s  East Fremantle Primary school’s seventh Biennial Art Exhibition – ArtEx.

I will be submitting 4 older works and one new one, especially created for the event. (image below)

In previous years, this has been a major fundraising event for the school and is a unique exhibition which showcases the artwork of the East Fremantle Primary School students in conjunction with emerging and established artists. It is a professionally run event which aims to benefit the  primary school and the West Australian arts community.

This year the exhibition is being held for the first time in the heritage spaces of  the Fremantle B-Shed, Victoria Quay.

The event is opening on 30th November 2012, and running until 2nd December 2012.

Here’s the new piece, titled “The Novel Writer”

You’ll also see these up on display too!

Art for Spine

Art for Spine

Art for Spine is an organization that is hosting an Auction in Brisbane in October this year to raise money for much needed funds for spinal injury units and their care resources. In particular therapy equipment and technology. The funds will help improve the life of those who traumatically experience spinal injury.

I’m donating this small piece titled, “Butterfly Charmer”.  I hope it helps them out in some way.
