Mini paintings for a mini give away!

Mini paintings for a mini give away!

I have begun a new series of miniature wave / beach paintings for an exciting give away!

With the first done as a warm up birthday gift for a friend, it was perfect to get me in the mood for the others!  I should have the 4 mini paintings completed in about a months, all ready for a fun give away on my Facebook and Instagram.

Stay tuned for more info and updates on the latest editions to this series of four paintings.

Here’s what I’ve completed so far – ideas for titles are welcome!

The first image is the  birthday gift,  just to warm things up!  ” Stormy bay”

Still a little more to go with this one, mid-way progress shot and a more abstract feel.

Commissions and Donations

I’ve been having some great fun creating a few new pieces which I’m pleased to say turned out so awesome !

Using Oils on this piece was a bit of a head spin!  Normally painting in acrylics, I decided to commit fully to using oils this time, and was so glad that I did.  The results were brilliant – as you can see below!

Here it is titled “The glass tunnel” was a commission for a lovely friends birthday.  Roughly 6 feet long, it looked fantastic once hung – check it out!!

This next one was for the Fremantle Hockey Club’s quiz night. This time I stuck with acrylics, as it needed to be done quickly – and had about a week to get this one ready to hand over.

Titled “The Free Doctor” – I am hoping it raised some much needed money on the night!

Beautiful Baby Bump

Beautiful Baby Bump

Hi Friends!

It has been a busy couple of months.  With a wonderful holiday to the United States and Canada in September, I then came back to a couple of commissions to start cracking on!

The first one kept me very busy with a request for a pencil drawing of a lovely friend who just happens to have the most amazing fit body for a pregnant lady, asked me to sketch her with baby bump included.

She works very very hard at keeping her body looking so sleek, but of course competing in a beauty pageant whilst pregnant probably was a good reason to keep on top of it all.

Her drawing came out a treat, and she loves it. Whew!  I combined a very detailed pencil drawing with some loose watercolour paint patterns around her.

For a friend.

Millions of zoodles!

Millions of zoodles!

It’s been a fun couple of weeks, we had Australia Day happen, and I felt inspired to create a very cute doodle of a Quokka... a small marsupial animal only found on an island just off our coast. ¬†They are the cutest and happiest creatures on earth!

Millions of doodles and zillions of sketches

Millions of doodles and zillions of sketches

Hi there, It has been awhile since my last post! ¬†And if you check my other website www.violetanddarby.com.au or my @violetanddarby instagram – you’ll see I have indeed ¬†been very busy.

Here are some images I’ve done lately.. as usual mostly doodles and sketchy sketches. ¬†Loads of friends and family birthdays, which always means lots of fun drawings!

I have begun a new commission though, and it is an abstract.. Jungle Abstract though, so it should be kind of fun!

Katy’s peaceful garden

Katy’s peaceful garden

This is the latest commission completed for a wonderfully vibrant lady, who has had a rough beginning to 2014.

She wanted something bold, colourful with hearts to lift her up and out of the blues.  Her favourite colour is red, and the lotus image that features quite heavily is a beautiful tattoo she has on her wrist.

She tells me she loves it, and I’m looking forward to seeing a photo of it hanging in her home soon!!

Having a wonderful time sketching from THE cutest toddler photos ever!

My Nephew and Niece who are having a baby in October, wanted a special portrait for the baby’s nursery. ¬†Inspiration has never been easier with the photos they’ve supplied ! ¬†I’ve started a few initial pencil sketches, and I’ll be painting it onto a canvas eventually. ¬† I’d really like to put them both into the one painting … along with some very cute extra’s….!

I hope it all comes together as perfect as I have envisaged the final piece in my minds eye!  How adorable outta 10 are these baby photos below!! <3 <3

I’ll be BACH!

I’ll be BACH!

Just a fun commission I did recently..!¬† When someone at work asked me to paint/draw T2, I was like, HUH??!! Especially as it was a girlfriend… -weird loOk- !

But to be honest, I had tonnes of fun painting this and surprisingly enough, found painting Arnie quite easy!¬† I’m a huge Arnie fan, so I guess all those hours of watching his many movies have finally paid off! – Hasta La Vista BEH BEH!!

Fury Illustration Finito

Fury Illustration Finito

Author and friend Shirley Marr asked for some artwork, depicting her characters from her most recent published book – “Fury”. For exchange of the book itself I agreed… I figured that was a great trade… the story is excellent. My daughter (15yrs)¬† also read it and enjoyed also.

I asked my daughter and her two girlfriends to model for the painting that I created. I really needed some snooty attituded posing.. and they sure did come through.

I must admit that I’ve been having a few problems of late getting my head into the right space to create, this and a few other paintings. ¬†Painters block or something? ¬†It happens I guess. But hey, I have finished and I do quite like the finished product.

One of the many reviews: “A thrilling, fantastic (and sarcastic) read.” http://heyteenager.blogspot.com

I am definitely looking forward to Shirley’s next book, which I believe is being written now and perhaps if not finished, just about. ¬†Keep a look out for her name, you’ll be seeing alot more of her.

Creating some neat characters that feature in book “Fury” written by Perth author Shirley Marr. www.shirleymarr.net/books/books.html

I’ve taken a bit too long to finish these, I was probably a bit intimidated by the whole project to be honest, so procrastinated quite a bit !

Now that I’m getting into it, I’m loving the process immensely.

Hoping it all comes together at the end… long way to go yet.

Oh and Happy New Year to one and all!
