Complicated thoughts

Complicated thoughts

I’ve started a bit of a collection with work doodles… it seems I do some good alright stuff when I’m seated at my desk and two great big screens.  Whenever I have a break – coffee, lunch… I lay down a sketch / doodle.  It seems to work for me!

Millions of zoodles!

Millions of zoodles!

It’s been a fun couple of weeks, we had Australia Day happen, and I felt inspired to create a very cute doodle of a Quokka... a small marsupial animal only found on an island just off our coast.  They are the cutest and happiest creatures on earth!

Millions of doodles and zillions of sketches

Hi there, It has been awhile since my last post!  And if you check my other website www.violetanddarby.com.au or my @violetanddarby instagram – you’ll see I have indeed  been very busy.

Here are some images I’ve done lately.. as usual mostly doodles and sketchy sketches.  Loads of friends and family birthdays, which always means lots of fun drawings!

I have begun a new commission though, and it is an abstract.. Jungle Abstract though, so it should be kind of fun!

Bluff – Quobba Station Trip

Another amazing holiday, spent up North of Perth.  Warm weather, amazing snorkelling and fishing, and the scenery … so beautiful.  Pity there wasn’t any surf… but I guess you can’t have it all!

Here’s the art and a few snippets of the place we stayed at.

Holidays equals doodles!

Holidays equals doodles!

So I’ve had a few lovely escapes from the “Rat Race”, and when ever I go on road trips or generally just get away – the doodles ensue!

The October holiday was a long road trip to Uluru, (sometimes referred to as “Ayres Rock”).  It was a long 3 week driving journey right through the middle of Australia…. hot with a billion (no exaggeration) files… but amazing scenery.  Uluru is so amazing,  I was blown away by its majestic beauty and sheer magnitude.

I dropped some little pieces of art off into the places I stayed, so hopefully whoever found the pieces enjoyed the freebies.  Just little doodles though, nothing super amazing. hehe

I left the following two in different hotel rooms for whoever to find and the rest are just extra’s completed on the trip.

More later about my other trips along with photos of the sketching!

Tits n Tats

I’ve discovered a great new app to integrate into my doodling frenzies when using my Samsung Tablet.  I usually use the S-Note feature to draw with, which is simple and easy to doodle with.  It’s the addition of some fun filters via the Pixlr app that I was able to add torn edges and some crazy water stains.  Very easy to manipulate too.

Anyhow here are the results – one with the filters, and one without.

illustration friday – Future

illustration friday – Future

I haven’t posted in Illustration Friday in years!  It was a great delight to see this week’s theme to be so close to my heart! “Future”.

So I’ve chosen a character from the movie “The Fifth Element” – one of a fav Sci Fi style movies of mine and the whole family.

Leeloo played by Milla Jovovich is just one of the awesome actors in this fantastic story…. it seemed as good as any to draw, although Rachel from “Blade Runner” nearly took her place. (Sean Young)

I also mucked around a little bit in photoshop with colouring…. I hope you enjoy!  HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!  (clip from movie below!)
